    Hear and see our collection of over 50 individual and diverse Taonga Puoro played by Jerome, from the Nguru (whales tooth nose flute), Porutu Pounamu (greenstone long flute), Putaatara (shell trumpet), to the majestic Koauau Toroa (Royal Albatross wing bone flute).

    Both of the below programmes run consecutively:

    1. Power to the Puoro - whole school show

    (Ancient Maori musical instruments)

    • 1 hour

    • $6 per student (whānau and community free)

    • Suitable for all ages/levels

    • Minimum cost of 300 students (please enquire if you have more or less)


    An interactive experience where students connect through the power of Taonga Puoro and our natural environment relevant to Aotearoa. 

    Jerome shares his whānau collection of Taonga Puoro mixed with modern sound techonology to bring together the ancient and the new.

    Share in the sounds and stories of these ancient instruments gifted by our ancestors from these lands. At the end of the show students can file past our table of Puoro allowing for a closer view of these magnificent Taonga. A truly unique and unforgettable learning experience for all.

    2. Ukutangi making/learning to play workshop

    • Suitable for all ages/levels

    Students are introduced to an Ukutangi through the medium of Uku/Clay. Ukutangi is a Taonga Puoro that comes from Papatuanuku and sounds the voice of our Earth mother.

    Jerome then guides students and staff in a step-by-step process of making their own Ukutangi. He will share basic tikanga of creating, making and taking care of a Taonga. 

    Students are then shown the basics of playing their Ukutangi with discussions around using it within song and how to use their new taonga for self reflection - as way to calm the body and mind and connecting with the environment.

    Students will finish by etching patterns upon their Ukutangi discovering the basics of Maori design, symbology and connection to local environment.

    This includes facilitator fee, all resources and materials.
